Duties are a type of tariff, usually tied to the kind of item being imported.

Customers are responsible for paying any taxes or duties. We are providing below info to try to give insight so hopefully this will reduce any surprises along the way.

At Adhere To, we’re proud to offer beautifully made outerwear, responsibly crafted in Vietnam and shipped from our Canadian headquarters. As a growing global brand, we want your international shopping experience to be as smooth and transparent as possible-so you know exactly what to expect when it comes to duties and import taxes.

While most of our jackets are made in Vietnam and may not qualify for free trade exemptions, many countries offer duty-free thresholds that allow your order to pass through customs with minimal or no additional costs.

The U.S. allows shipments under $800 USD to enter duty-free, regardless of where the product was made.

That means most Adhere To orders under $800 USD will not incur import duties when shipped to the U.S., but applicable state sales taxes may still apply.

European Union (EU)

While EU countries apply VAT and duties to orders above €150, many smaller orders avoid these charges. Even when VAT applies, it’s a standard part of all retail purchases within the EU.

Good news: Orders under €150 may skip duties entirely, and we aim to make customs processing as simple as possible.

United Kingdom

For orders under £135, UK customers usually avoid duties, though VAT may still apply. For larger orders, VAT and some duties are standard—but we always work to ensure shipping is smooth and well-documented to prevent delays.

Good news: Smaller orders often clear without extra costs, and we handle brokerage fees on our end.

Australia

Australia has a generous threshold—orders under AUD $1,000 are typically duty-free. A 10% GST may still apply, but this is a standard part of domestic and international purchasing in Australia.

Good news: Most orders ship free of duties, and GST is automatically calculated at checkout or during import.

Japan

Japan applies import tax and duties on most international orders, but the process is efficient and consistent. Duties depend on the item and value, and our documentation ensures smooth clearance.

South Korea

New Zealand

Mexico

Mexico’s import threshold is lower (around USD $50), so some orders may include duties and VAT. That said, we ensure all shipments are properly classified to reduce delays and streamline processing.
